Three
Holiday Homes for rent in the popular Costa del Sol resort of
Nerja
Car
Hire: The major international companies all have their offices
at Malaga Airport. Although we accept no responsibility for
our suggestion, we use the local, Tony's
Rent a Car whose reps meet you near the entrance to the
main car park. The company does not use the controversial system
of upfront payment for a full tank of top-price fuel. Just return
with the same amount of fuel as when collected. Nearly all companies
have websites with on-line booking in English, or use comparison
sites who will search for the best deals. From the exit of Malaga
Airport there is a high-level dual carriageway link to the
A7 motorway, which then passes within a mile of Nerja town centre.
Malaga is about 34 miles (55 km.) from Nerja, the airport is
6 miles (10km.) further on, taking about 50 minutes to drive.
If you just want daily hire, to perhaps visit one of the local
markets,
just browse the small ads at the back of the magazines in our
properties.
Taxis: As a service only for guests
renting our properties, our Agent in Nerja can book a taxi or
a minibus (most vehicles with air conditioning), to and from
Malaga Airport, whereby the driver meets you just outside the
arrivals hall. The one-way cost is €75 up to 4 people,
€100 for 5 - 8, €110 for 9 - 10 or €130 for up
to 13 maximum. There is a legal requirement to equip all taxis
with child or baby seats and all fares are set by the local
authority. These are payable to the driver in cash (€),
however there is no charge for making the reservation. We can
also organise guest transport from Malaga Railway Station, same
cost as from the airport. Once in the Nerja area, a local taxi
journey will cost €5 - €10, plus €1 after 10pm
and weekends.
Buses: The service between
Nerja and Malaga Bus Station (adjacent to the railway station),
is approximately every hour, with a half hour service from the
bus station to the airport. There is no direct link from Nerja
to the airport, though any inconvenience changing buses is offset
by the economical cost of the two-hour journey. Nerja does not
have a bus station, the buses start and terminate at the lay-by
and taxi rank, adjacent to one of the roundabouts in the centre
of town.
Driving: Brittany
Ferries have crossings from both Portsmouth and Plymouth
to Santander, then the drive down from Northern Spain is about
630 miles. To plan your route, we suggest you look at the Mapquest
site. Just type in your own U.K. postcode, the postcode of Nerja
(29780) and receive a door-to-door route map.
